Why now, in Utrecht
Administrative staff are in very short supply in Utrecht and will remain scarce until 2030, against the national easing (UWV, Ontwikkeling krapte naar beroep 2024-2030, 18 December 2025). A workflow that removes the retyping and searching is often arranged faster here than a vacancy is filled.

Amersfoort
Via the A28 I am in Amersfoort in about 25 minutes; by train via Utrecht Centraal it takes a little longer. According to provisional CBS figures, Amersfoort had 25,335 business locations on 1 January 2026; the largest groups are specialist business services, healthcare, trade, education and IT. The Amersfoort Business Team is the municipality's business desk.
Nieuwegein
Nieuwegein is closest for me: about fifteen minutes by car, or tram 20 from Utrecht Centraal. Business park Het Klooster lies in the triangle of the A2, A12 and A27 motorways. Provisional CBS figures count 8,785 business locations on 1 January 2026, with specialist business services and trade as the largest groups.
Zeist
Via the A28 I am in Zeist in about twenty minutes; by train, Driebergen-Zeist station is about as far. Zeist has 10,995 business locations in 2026, a third of them in business services, and IT and the health economy are two of the municipality's four economic priorities. Utrecht Science Park Zeist and the KNVB Campus are also in the municipality.
Woerden
Via the A12 I am in Woerden in just over twenty minutes; the sprinter from Utrecht Centraal takes about ten minutes. Provisional CBS figures count 8,330 business locations on 1 January 2026. At the end of 2025 trade was the largest employer, with 5,800 of 28,000 employee jobs.
Hilversum
Via the A27 I am in Hilversum in about half an hour; by train via Utrecht Centraal it takes a little longer. The Media Park has about 100 companies and more than 6,000 jobs, and since early 2024 Media Campus NL has worked there on talent development and open innovation, with AI as one of its themes. The creative industry accounts for more than 27 percent of employment in the city.
Amsterdam
By train I am in Amsterdam in just over half an hour, by car about as fast outside rush hour. In the municipality's Business Survey 2025, more than one in five business owners reported staff shortages. Is there a subsidy for AI in the province of Utrecht?
From 12 October 2026 you can apply for the provincial AI and cybersecurity voucher from the EU programme for the western Netherlands, if your business is in the province of Utrecht. It is worth €20,000 to €40,000, at most 40 percent of project costs, after an intake with ROM Utrecht Region. The voucher is meant for larger innovation projects; you do not need it for a free AI plan or One process with AI.
